M and MS Notices. Who Publishes these?

M NOTICES

M notices are published by the MCA and recommendations contained in it should be complied with.

It is a method by which the MCA promulgates information, which is quickly brought to the attention of seafarers, management and those associated with the industry.
They are divided into three categories:
1. Merchant Shipping Notices (white coloured)
These often contain details of UK law and are legally enforceable when referred to by a Statutory Instrument.
2. Marine Guidance Notices (blue coloured):
 
These giveguidance and recommendations about best practice to industry on interpretation of law
and general safety advice.
3. Marine Information Notes (green coloured):
These provide less important time limited information.
Each notice will be afixed as follows:
1. (M): for merchant ships
2. (F): for fishing vessels
3. (M+F): for merchant ships and fishing
vessels.
MS NOTICES
MS Notices are printed by the Govt of India ( D G Shipping) on occurred accidents, their causes & recommendations on prevention.
A 2nd officer with an eye for writing and being of help to fellow Seafarers. Presently, he posts educational content for mariners here. He likes to enlighten others with the knowledge he has gained from his experiences so that they don't have to face the same problems as he has.
