Lifeboat as Rescue Boat
Ques. Your vessel has 2 similar Lifeboats on either side of the accommodation. Lifeboat No. 1 is marked as a Rescue Boat. Will there be any difference between the 2 Lifeboats? If yes, What?
Ans. The recovery time of Lifeboat No.1 (Rescue Boat) will be less than 5 min. This is as per SOLAS CH. III Reg 17.
SOLAS CH. III Reg 17 Quotes “Recovery time of the rescue boat shall be not more than 5 min in moderate sea conditions when loaded with its full complement of persons and equipment. If the rescue is also a lifeboat, this recovery time shall be possible when loaded with its lifeboat boat equipment and the approved rescue boat complement of at least 6 persons.“
