How do you take over Cargo watch?

Taking Over Cargo watch.

1. Go to deck 20 mins before

2. Inspect accommodation ladder or gangway. It should be properly illuminated. It’s step should be clean, safe and non slippery.

3. Lifebuoy with lifeline attached kept ready

4. Safety net properly rigged

5. It should be free from obstruction

6. Gangway register properly maintained

7. Take round on deck and check:

a) ship mooring is properly tight and fitted with rat guard

b) No oil seen around the ship

c) Complying with VGP

8. Ask for any specific or special instructions from chief officer or Master

9. Enquire if vessel is expecting any visitors during your watch

10. Read & comply with Chief officer’s night order ( during night hrs).

11. Inspect all deck scuppers should be plugged and not leaking.

12. Confirm all drip tray drains are shut.

13. Check if wilden pump is functioning properly.
